Hair and Makeup Designer

• Work with Artistic Director to get a clear understanding of the concept of the production
• Research hair and makeup styles of time period and location to ensure designs match the concept
• Work with Costume Designer and Costumer as needed to coordinate things such as gloves and hats that may be in direct contact with wigs or makeup
• Work within show budget as presented by the producer and approved by the Board
• Arrange for makeup crew as needed
• Sort DSL makeup stock ahead of time in preparation for production week
• Distribute and track makeup from stock for those who need to borrow makeup
• Clean up and restock makeup stock as necessary before the boxes return to the warehouse for storage
• Schedule a session to present design to the cast in a clear/understandable way
• Available or arrange for makeup crew to be available for production week rehearsals and performances
• Communicate makeup design and instructions to cast in person (typically before a rehearsal) and in writing (typically by email)
• Create designs that can be built within the budget provided by producer
