- Preferably has experience in playing piano for vocalists, not just concert piano
- Communicate availability for rehearsals with Producer
- Prepare music for scheduled rehearsals according to rehearsal calendar
- Should be able to play vocal parts alone, accompaniment alone, or a combination of the two as requested by the Music Director
- Any conflicts or changes in availability should be communicated to the Producer as soon as they are known
- Last minute issues (car trouble, illness, etc) should be communicated IMMEDIATELY to the person in charge of that rehearsal as well as the Producer
- Responsible for creation of the overall concept of the production
- Responsible for conducting auditions and call backs with the Music Director and Choreographer and casting the production based on those auditions
- Responsible for creating blocking for all scenes in the production and coordinating as necessary with the Choreographer
- Coordinate rehearsal schedule with Music Director & Choreographer and post calls on the rehearsal calendar as far in advance as possible
- Work closely with designers to ensure all elements of their designs stay within the concept
- Work with performers on characterizations within the concept
- Keep Stage Manager informed of prop and costume needs specific to the concept
- Coordinate rehearsals with Assistant Director as necessary to cover schedule conflicts or additional rehearsals
- Cannot be a member of the cast
- Coordinate rehearsals with Artistic Director, Music Director & Choreographer
- Conduct rehearsals in Artistic Director’s absence
- Assist with blocking and/or create new blocking
- Rehearse small groups separately while Artistic Director works with other groups
- Attend all rehearsals
- Note all blocking and choreography
- Familiar with entire script, concept, and characterizations
- Able to work with different ability levels within cast
- Familiar with physical layout of set & stage
- Should not be a member of the cast
- Create choreography for all musical numbers
- Responsible for conducting auditions and call backs with the Music Director and Artistic Director and casting the production based on those auditions
- Coordinate rehearsals with Artistic Director & Musical Director
- Present choreography to performers in clear/understandable way
- Familiar with physical layout of set & stage
- Familiar with entire script, concept, and characterizations
- Create choreography that fits in the flow/characterizations/concept of the show
- Coordinate with Musical Director to be sure choreography is set to the correct tempo
- Able to work with different ability levels within cast
- Work closely with costumer to be sure performers can perform choreography in the costumes and shoes
- Coordinate rehearsals with Artistic Director, Music Director & Choreographer
- Conduct rehearsals in Choreographer’s absence
- Assist with choreography and/or create new choreography
- Rehearse small groups separately while Choreographer works with other groups
- Attend all rehearsals
- Note all blocking and choreography for all performers
- Familiar with entire script, concept, and characterizations
- Present choreography to performers in clear/understandable way
- Able to work with different ability levels within cast
- Familiar with physical layout of set & stage
- Fulfill duties of Dance Captain if that position is not filled separately
